Last year we sent out an appeal for Khana Ghar and Alhamdulillah raised enough funds to feed 371 families. This year let us start early and see if we can do even better. Imagine, Just SR:150 can support a family during the month of Holy Ramadan!!!
In 2002 Parveen Saeed, a resident of Surjani Town, heard news of a woman who had murdered her two children because she was unable to feed them, and could not bear to watch them slowly starve to death. Parveen thought that surely there is enough food in Pakistan that no one need go hungry, so she started Khana Ghar, a small dhaba in Khuda Ki Basti in Karachi, where she provides a full meal (one roti and saalan) to anyone who wants to eat for only 3 rupees.
Today over 4000 people get at least one decent meal a day from Khana Ghar. All the funding comes from fellow Muslims who want to share their bounty with rest of humanity. Every Ramadan Parveen Saeed makes food packets and delivers it to the needy. This year cost of monthly ration is Rs. 3500 per family. To keep things in perspective, it equals Sr. 152, less than the cost of a decent meal in Saudi Arabia.
Last year the same packet of food cost Rs. 2000.

White Chickpeas 2 kg, Chana Dal 1 kg, Masoor Dal 1 kg, Rice 2 kg, Condensed Milk 1 Packet and Rooh Afza Drink 1 Bottle.

Please open your hearts and wallets and donate generously. Do ask your friends to skip “another” Iftar party and consider donating The funds to a very worthy cause. Last year we had children donating their pocket money for this cause.
